Porsche Ruf CTR "Yellowbird" prototype, version 1.3

This car is actually a combination of two cars. The models, textures and dials
were made by Dr_drift while the ini and various other bits came from an older
variant of this car, created by Loungekid and Mr Whippy. The new mesh was
slightly adjusted to work with the old ini by me (Miran Amon). I also slightly
modified the ini so that it works with the new mesh better. The dimensions of
the mesh are slightly different so the suspension geometry had to be modified
(the new mesh is a few cm longer) and the cameras, steering wheel and the
in-car dials had to be moved a bit.

Below you can read the contents of the old car's readme.txt file. The parts
that talk about the mesh and textures don't apply for this car of course, but
everything else does.

********The old 1.2 version of the car by Loungekid readme.txt******************

Ruf CTR "Yellowbird" Version 1.2 Final(ish) Release.

Right, so here is the actual full Ruf CTR "Yellowbird" release. I have modified
more extensively the car mesh, giving it more authentic bumpers and airvents,
as well as deleting the sunroof and making Ruf 5-spoke alloys for it.

The model still isn't pretty, and there are some serious worries with things
like reflections and poly structure that i would really have to redo the entire
car to REALLY fix. So until i get the blueprints for that to work out, have fun
playing with this.

I really have not touched Mr. Whippy's ini for the car that much, though it
could likely also use another going-over just to sort some graphical problems
like the tires coming through the fenders over bumps, etc. I'll leave any
updating of that stuff up to Whippy, if he wants to, because it really is
mostly just little stuff that doesn't actually affect the quality and
Drivability of the car, which happens to be very near ideal. Thanks again
Whippy for that!

Two things however that i DID change were that i added authentic gearing (5
speed) from the Ruf Yellowbird prototype( the one from the speed test and Ring
videos) and a torque curve derived from a dyno of the same car. Thanks to
emcon5 for that hard-to-find information.

Well, that should do it. Oh, i have AR'ed this one up just for kicks. However
if someone wants to use my Ruf wheels you can contact me and maybe i'll say
yes (contact info at the bottom of this readme).

Also if anyone who is possesses the desire AND ABILITY to fix the bits of the
car that remain crappy (goofy normals all around, terrible poly structure in
the windows, nose, tail, and fender flares, ETC.) then feel free to contact me
and i will be more than happy to pass the Zmodeller file on to anyone who can
do the job.

I personally do not intend to do anything further on this car. It is not fully
my own, and i want to model a 911 from scratch thats IS my own, rather than
fixing any more of this one's creator's mistakes, but if you want to and CAN
fix it, then feel free to ask me for the files. If you just want to put a
Combat Kit and a 2000hp NOS'ed Rocket Booster on it, well, then please don't
ask for the files. I think its already fast and ugly enough.;)

Also thanks to Beni C for the German license plates and to fastandryan for
putting together the guages for the Carrera 3.2 Clubsport version which i
have modified for the Ruf.

That's it... Like anybody reads these files.:)

***********Older Release Information*******************************************

Bit more tweaking to the ini, and added entries in ini for the Ruf Yellowbird
whale tail and twin exhausts. Also reverted to edited versions of the original
sound sample by LoungeKid, just lowered the volume for the accelerate and
decellerate sets. Also added a wastegate noise on the overrun above 4500rpm,
which sounds pretty cool.
Handling wise, newer pacejka tweaks and braking balance for more confident
braking, although slamming on fast still locks them up easily since the front
end is light until the weight has had time to transfer...! Adjusted damping a
little, and the arb's to aid slides :)

Can't think of anything else really...

Thanks again to LoungeKid for sorting this car out so much and all the other
stuff he's done, and allowing me to do this Yellowbird Ruf with his new work!

Latest ini and sound and torque curve tweaks by Mr Whippy. Ini and torque
represent the 1990 Ruf CTR Yellowbird. Almost all the major parts of the ini
are new, from wheel positions, sizes, suspension rates, inertia's, pacejka
tweaks, roll centre tweaks, CofG changed. Loads of bit's and bobs. Probably
pulls too many lateral g's, but I like it more racey, like it would be for
Ring work, with slicks and what not.
Quite oversteery, and iffy at medium speeds, but the "rear wing" (not modelled),
generates healthy downforce at speed which makes the car very neutral and
stable at over 150mph. Great for the Ring, but maybe not perfect. However,
imperfections give it character, which is important with a car that'll cover
the 1/4 mile in 11.9 seconds, and go over 200mph :)

Hope you enjoy the fixes, and thanks to everyone who has contributed to this
car in whatever form in the past, and especially to LoungeKid for bringing it
up to date fully for Racer.

Also edited wheel sizes and body size to match data for the Yellowbird. Not
sure if it's right, but the wheels needed narrowing and things to fit properly.

This car originally surfaced on www.zmodeler.com where Oleg M did some texture
work to it and released it for NFS. It was converted and the original ini was
created by Miki Tuning (web: http://utenti.quipo.it/mikihome)

At some point Marcin Wgrzynek created a new ini for the car, and that ini was
updated by "TheAlfaNut" around April 2003 for Racer 050 Final compatibility.

When i recieved the car it wasn't in good shape. Serious normals issues, Very
Lo Fi textures, and the ini had the engine in the front... Well, i messed with
it, joined the two halves of the body together, fixed some of the major dents
and abrasions, retextured it with a hi-res map, and scaled it down to closer
to correct size.

I then created the Fuchs alloy-style wheels that are on the car now. IF YOU
WANT TO USE THESE WHEELS FOR ANYTHING, YOU MUST ASK ME FIRST. I WILL VERY
LIKELY SAY YES, BUT ONLY IF I AM ASKED.

I also did quite a bit of work on the ini to get it to behave a little more
like a Porsche, modding suspension, tires, sound, CofG, etc.

The tire data came from Mr. Whippy's ini for Bloom's Ferrari 360 Spider, and
the bits of 051 Alpha Audio Test compatibility in the ini came from Mr.
Whippy's Alpha Test update for the RacerExtreme Honda S2000.

However, you will notice that the .wav files needed to actually enable the
Alpha Test compatibility are missing as i could not get it to sound good at
all with the samples i could find for the Porsche. I left the ini lines in so
maybe someone else can use it as a start and get it to work with some other
samples.

That is all that i can think of right now.

Feel free to mod the car further if you'd like. There is still plenty to do,
but it is decent and drivable so i am content for now.

HOWEVER, if you DO want to change something or use bits of the ini, etc,
whatever you release should credit everyone else who had a hand in the car's
creation. It is becoming a good-sized list.

Thanks. Have Fun with the car.
