This version represents the 1988 Porsche Carrera 3.2 Clubsport. The Clubsport was a very limited edition of the regular Carrera 3.2. It shared the same engine, but the shell was lightened considerably and the engine got new management which raised the rev limit from 6520 to 6840 rpm. The chassis and suspension geometry remained unchanged from the standard 3.2 Carrera, though the Clubsport did get stiffer dampers. The lighter weight and higher rev limit dropped the 0-60 time from 6.1 to 5.9 seconds. At the time of its production, in tests at the Nurburgring, it set times within a second of the same year's 930 Turbo and 944 Turbo S.

I have used Mr. Whippy's suspension and pacejka work with his Ruf CTR version of this same car model, and i have also chosen to use the versions of the model that he scaled for the Ruf, so rather than having to release two only very slightly differently scaled .dof versions, there will be one standard one. It just makes things much more simple that way.

However, i have deviated from Whippy's Ruf in the overall weight balance, moving the center of gravity backwards a bit. The engine should weigh about 210 kg, and it is all Behind the rear axle, so i figure between 63-64% rear distribution should just about do it. Also a bunch of other stuff, like gearing, roll centers, lsd, torque curve, etc. have had a bit of alteration.

I guess thats it. Have fun with this car. I think it compliments the Ruf nicely, not as much power, but it is delivered differently, and the lower weight means that it can still move right along. While it loses ground(a lot) on the straights to the unrestrained violence of the CTR, it can carry quite a bit of speed through the corners, and being less powerful and boosty means that it won't try to kill you under acceleration in quite the way that the Ruf will. The Clubsport likes the Ring plenty, but it is especially suited to smaller or tighter courses, where the CTR tends to prove a bit unwieldy.

Have Fun.

P.S. This Release Version(1.2) contains a rear Carrera spoiler that i modelled, as well as some guages from f50 and Max3DGuru that have been modified by FastAndRyan, and released for this application with the permission of all involved parties. License plates are courtesy of Beni C.

Thanks.

The following is from the Ruf CTR v1.1 ini (it tells what Whippy did better than i would be able to summarize):

"Latest ini and sound and torque curve tweaks by Mr Whippy. Ini and torque represent the 1990 Ruf CTR Yellowbird. Almost all the major parts of the ini are new, from wheel positions, sizes, suspension rates, inertia's, pacejka tweaks, roll centre tweaks, CofG changed. Loads of bit's and bobs. Probably pulls too many lateral g's, but I like it more racey, like it would be for Ring work, with slicks and what not.
Quite oversteery, and iffy at medium speeds, but the "rear wing" (not modelled), generates healthy downforce at speed which makes the car very neutral and stable at over 150mph. Great for the Ring, but maybe not perfect. However, imperfections give it character, which is important with a car that'll cover the 1/4 mile in 11.9 seconds, and go over 200mph :)

Hope you enjoy the fixes, and thanks to everyone who has contributed to this car in whatever form in the past, and especially to LoungeKid for bringing it up to date fully for Racer.

Also edited wheel sizes and body size to match data for the Yellowbird. Not sure if it's right, but the wheels needed narrowing and things to fit properly.

And THIS is the original release Information:

This car originally surfaced on www.zmodeler.com where Oleg M did some texture work to it and released it for NFS. It was converted and the original ini was created by Miki Tuning (web: http://utenti.quipo.it/mikihome)

At some point Marcin Wgrzynek created a new ini for the car, and that ini was updated by "TheAlfaNut" around April 2003 for Racer 050 Final compatibility.

When i recieved the car it wasn't in good shape. Serious normals issues, Very Lo Fi textures, and the ini had the engine in the front... Well, i messed with it, joined the two halves of the body together, fixed some of the major dents and abrasions, retextured it with a hi-res map, and scaled it down to closer to correct size.

I then created the Fuchs alloy-style wheels that are on the car now. IF YOU WANT TO USE THESE WHEELS FOR ANYTHING, YOU MUST ASK ME FIRST. I WILL VERY LIKELY SAY YES, BUT ONLY IF I AM ASKED.

I also did quite a bit of work on the ini to get it to behave a little more like a Porsche, modding suspension, tires, sound, CofG, etc.

The tire data came from Mr. Whippy's ini for Bloom's Ferrari 360 Spider, and the bits of 051 Alpha Audio Test compatibility in the ini came from Mr. Whippy's Alpha Test update for the RacerExtreme Honda S2000.

However, you will notice that the .wav files needed to actually enable the Alpha Test compatibility are missing as i could not get it to sound good at all with the samples i could find for the Porsche. I left the ini lines in so maybe someone else can use it as a start and get it to work with some other samples.

That is all that i can think of right now.

Feel free to mod the car further if you'd like. There is still plenty to do, but it is decent and drivable so i am content for now.

HOWEVER, if you DO want to change something or use bits of the ini, etc, whatever you release should credit everyone else who had a hand in the car's creation. It is becoming a good-sized list.

Thanks. Have Fun with the car.
