Postman Pat's van Version 1.0

The year is 2007...

Democracy has all but left the war-torn, once proud island of the UK, our once 'world class' postal service is in chaos.

But fear not, one courageous postie stays loyal to his round - despite being sacked by Consignia back in 2001, battling daily against the hooded chavs and traffic wardens which infect our deprived suburbs to deliver our junk mail and parking fines, come rain, wind or shine (snow deliveries have been suspended pending further review under the 'Health and safety at work act 1974').

Now YOU can step into the boots of our hero and judge how easy it really is to work long hours for slave wages, delivering oversized eBay parcels to the chattering classes, getting mugged on the local council estate for your consignment of envelopes containing Giros and being the subject of verbal abuse over the rising cost of stamps and the state of the Country in general.

How long will you endure the task? It's hard to say but one certainty is that you won't even get a bloody pension.

Why model it?

I did this as a tutorial in Blender - they said pick a simple object, so I did. I used to be a big fan of this guy when I was a kid and thought I'd share the result of a few hours work with the community rather than the .blend file just sit on my hard disk and get deleted one day.

Feel free to do what you like with it within reason, if you want to give it better textures, convert it or rice it into a 1200bhp driftable beast then feel free, just please don't moan about this or that aspect of it. This is released as-is, very unlikely it will be updated - it's not perfect so enjoy it as it is or feel free to rework it to your tastes.

Top speed is around 78mph, if you can't take the auto version, just replace it with the manualcar.ini file for the 5spd version. I fudged the ini a bit but it drives quite nice IMO, fun to slide around corners - nice squishy suspension and low grip tyres. It's not meant to be realistic, I wanted to make it bounce around and lean heavily on corners like the one did on TV. As above, if you don't like it and think you can make it better then feel free.

Model features:

- Approx 30 something horsepower - this is a delivery van, not a sports car, remember. Besides, slower cars are more fun..

- Front Wheel Drive

- Working mirrors

- Brakelamps

Known issues:

- A couple of normals issues, mainly because I had trouble working out which way the normals pointed in Blender. But you probably won't even notice them.

- NO JESS!!! Jess is at the Vet so don't waste your time looking for her.

Elements of this van have been stolen from several unwitting authors (thanks in advance), credits below (if I've missed anyone or you have a problem with anything I've used then let me know and I'll remove the relevant part)

I think that's all.

Happy driving.
