Right, this will be my first released scratch-made car then...

The Jaguar MK2 can be considered one of the first true sporting saloons, equal parts sports and luxury car. It shared the classic Jaguar XK six cylinder engine with the early E-Type, which produced 225 bhp at 5500rpm and propelled the Mk2 to a 0-60mph time of 8.5 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 16.3 seconds and a top speed of 201kmh. The car had four wheel disc brakes at 11.25" each corner which provided good braking ability despite the Mk2's 3136lb weight.

As a result, the Mk2 experienced a good deal of success in touring car racing throughout the sixties, and remains to this day a favorite amongst classic sporting car enthusiasts.

JAGUAR MK2 3.8L MOD VERSION 1.0:
This Racer version represents an early sixties example, road-going, stock vehicle. Big thanks go out to BLoOm for the excellent gauges, to Beni C for the license plates, to stecki for the driver, to Mr. Whippy for his BMW M5 conversion, whose folder i used to build this car in(also whose ini i started out with, though most all of that is changed now), and to all at the RSC forums who provided comments, criticism, and suggestions.

Thanks.

The ini included with this version utilizes almost entirely unmodified Alpine pacejka data for 185/15 tires. However, for a more comical arcadish driving experience, also included is an ini with a more heavily modified set of pacejka which is very high on forgiveness, and very low on grip, making for a bit of a silly sideways circus... Just rename the "ARCADEcar.ini" to "car.ini" and paste it over the old one to play with it. Its pretty goofy, kind of like driving on gravel. :) I rather like it on occasion at the Ring.

Also, *FOR THE MORE P.C. SPEC CRIPPLED AMONG US*:
Certain parts of the car have been included as a light model to enable somewhat of a minor hack LODing ability. If you have trouble getting playable framerates, you might try the following:

1. Find the following section in the "car.ini":

  }
  model_light_r
  {
    file=extrabits.dof
  }

2. Put a ";" in front of the word "file=" so that it looks like this:

  }
  model_light_r
  {
    ;file=extrabits.dof
  }

What this will do is remove the hood ornament, windshield wipers, and the underbody details from the game model, cutting somewhere around a total of 1000 polys. It may not be enough to do anything for your fps problem, but may still be worth a shot...

I guess that's it then. Have fun with the car.

Please don't modify or release any of the 3D bits without permission from me, or in the case of the dials the permission of BLoOM, or in the case of the driver, the permission of stecki, etc, etc...

However, do what you feel with the car body/interior textures, as long as it isn't in any way for profit, that is. ;)

Thanks all.
