Spa Francorchamps

Originally converted by Tune71 from F1/2002. Track updated Apr/May 2005 - major modifications by the AlfaNut with RACER 052beta9 in mind. In the past:

Splines created.
Track cameras changed.
Revised track surface textures.
Various graphics mods and additions.
Start, grid positions revised and time lines added.
Updated dofs to keep the QLog manageable.
Revised geometry.ini - deleting and adding various background scenery.

Update April 2005 - using beta 9.0 now, everything works as expected. Changed the course to include the chicane before entering the start/finish line straight. AI set to deal with this change but the splines are a bit rough so caution is advised. Follow the line!

Three versions of the geometry.ini file inclosed. One disables various trackside objects slightly improving fps. One geometry.ini is simply the track itself for spline making application. Another is the original geometry.ini; i.e., a straight run in place of the new chicane. Splines would obviously need to be changed as well; also included, named "splines-orig.ini".

Bitmaps graphics changed to targa format. Some graphics revised, again.

I've tried to make this track look close to the real one. Some graphics are strictly imaginary while others are as close to reality as I can make them, having reviewed various web sites for reference. Where ever possible, I broke up repetitive track-side signs; too boring.

Road, curb, grass and gravel textures are all part of the various track*.dof files and I can not extract these textures to create surface sounds or grip factors. Again, someone else may know of a way to deal with this.

The other readme -- Spa information, describes the track. It also contains a good tutorial on driving this track. I added various time lines to add a bit of challenge to racing here.

My main reason was the fact I could not add those surface sounds and various grip factors. The track sides are as easy to race on as the road surfaces are and adding a few extra time lines will hopefully insure adherance to proper racing; i.e., keeping on track!

Cheers and Happy Racing!
